Born in Montreal, Étienne Dupuis has established himself as one of the most distinguished baritones of his generation.

Upcoming projects in the 24/25 season include Germont in La traviata, Posa in Don Carlo and the title role in Don Giovanni at the Wiener Staatsoper, his role debut as Macbeth at the Washington National Opera, Rigoletto at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Conte di Luna in Il trovatore at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden.

Recent highlights include role debuts as Don Carlo di Vargas in La forza del destino at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Rigoletto at the Teatro Real Madrid, Paolo in Simon Boccanegra, Sancho Pança in Don Quichotte at the Opéra national de Paris and Count Karl Gustav in the world premiere of La Reine-garçon at the Opéra de Montréal. He also made his Japan debut as Rigoletto on tour with the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in Yokohama and Tokyo and reprised the role of Marcello in La bohème with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Bravo! Vail Music Festival.

Étienne made his debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Zurga in Les pêcheurs de perles and returned as Posa in Don Carlo, Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Germont in La traviata, Marcello in La bohème, Silvio in Pagliacci and the title role in Eugene Onegin. He made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Marcello in La bohème and has since returned as Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro and Rodrigue in Don Carlos. He regularly sings at houses such as Opera de Paris, Opernhaus Zurich, Bayerische Staatsoper, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opéra de Montréal, and Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Étienne's discography includes his solo disc Love Blows as the Wind Blows released on ATMA Classique, Honegger and Ibert L'Aiglon for Decca, Thaïs duet with Sonya Yoncheva on her Paris, mon amour recording for Sony, Getty's Usher House with narration from actor Benedict Cumberbatch and Thérèse on Presto Classical with Alain Altinoglu and Opéra national Montpellier Orchestra and Choir.

In 2021, Étienne was awarded the prestigious Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government.
