Philip Moore discovered a love of the performing arts was in his blood at an early age. His paternal grandparents ran a touring “Picture Show” business through rural Victoria and New South Wales during the years after the Second World War, and then later toured as musicians in dance band performing all over the Gippsland region of Victoria.
After years of watching his grandparents perform, it was no great surprise when Philip took up private tuition in singing, dance and piano - later completing the Tertiary Orientation Programme in Performance and Theatre Crafts at Box Hill TAFE in 1986.
After discovering that his real passion lay backstage, Philip spent several years as a freelance costume maker working on film, television and theatre productions including Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rogue and La bohème on Broadway, Scooby Doo, Burn the Floor and the Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony. After commencing work in the wardrobe department of Opera Australia for a two-week engagement in 2002, Philip finally left the Company in 2010 having performed a variety of roles in several departments - including a two-and-a-half year tenure in OA’s Company Office.
Philip spends his downtime in the company of his partner Dennis and is delighted to be joining the team at Patrick Togher Artists’ Management.
