Patrick Togher was born in Sydney and graduated in Law and Economics from the University of Sydney.
Whilst studying, he began performing as an operatic and concert tenor Ė singing his first professional role aged 18. Subsequently, he built up an impressive list of credits with Australia and New Zealandís leading performing companies. For the Australian Opera (now Opera Australia), Patrick established a repertoire of over 30 roles specialising in Wagner, Strauss and 20th Century Music. He appeared frequently with all the major opera and theatre companies in Australasia and was a regular guest soloist with the ABC Orchestras.
Whilst a resident artist at OA, he served as union delegate for the principal singers (1991-94) and became the inaugural Chairman of the Artistsí Joint Consultative Committee (1993).
In 1994, Patrick Togher accepted an invitation to sing Ubaldo Piangi in Andrew Lloyd Webberís The Phantom of the Opera. After nearly 1000 performances in Sydney and Brisbane, Patrick was engaged to play the same role in Londonís West End; he later returned to Australia with his young family upon deciding to change direction - from performer to manager.
Patrick Togher Artistsí Management was founded in 1998 by Patrick Togher and Romola Tyrrell. Since then, many leading Australian and international performers have joined its stable of artists and are regularly engaged by major organizations in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
